Caroline Gakou
Carol is a professional CPA with 12 years of experience in providing assurance, financial management and advisory services to clients in the private and public sectors. She has extensive experience in external audits and reviews, financial internal control systems reviews, risk assessments, budget reviews and organizational capacity assessments. She served clients like Gavi, World Bank, UNDP, UNOPS, World Vision, UNICEF, National Treasury (Kenya) and other local and international NGOs.
Her professional experience includes: assessment of program management and sub-recipient management, procurement and monitoring and evaluation prior to receipt of donor funding/grant signing; performing spot checks on the implementation of various grants to ensure the correct measures are in place and being followed; reviewing and identifying key control weaknesses in client financial and internal control systems, proposing areas in which management could improve on operational efficiency and controls and the impact of these on organization’s objectives and risks and; technical assistance to government agencies in Kenya and Somalia, review of recipient budgets/funding applications to determine the reasonability and efficiency of fund use.
Carol holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K.)
